English for Speakers of Other Languages Classes

The majority of residents in Washington Heights and Inwood are Dominican immigrants and nearly 75% of the population speaks limited to no English. Our ESOL classes run a waiting list of over 1000 people.

Impact:

  • NMIC’s Adult Education Program provides ESOL classes to over 1,200 students annually.
  • NMIC ranks in the highest group of excellence in New York State Adult Education Department’s report card system.
  • Thanks to our great teachers, skilled staff and engaging curriculum, NMIC does not see the high attrition rates that plague so many adult education programs.
