53 NMIC students earn GED diplomas

On Friday, June 17th, NMIC's Adult Education held its second annual GED graduation ceremony, celebrating the accomplishments of the 53 GED students who earned their diplomas during fiscal year 2011. The event was highlighted by the keynote speech given by Councilmember Rodriguez, who recounted his own educational path in the United States-a path which started with him earning his GED. The valedictorian-Luis Chavez-and salutatorian--Jose Gutierrez-each gave moving speeches highlighting their own paths towards GED attainment and the role that NMIC played in their academic progress. NMIC is extremely proud of the graduates and wish each of them the best in the future. In particular, we would like to congratulate GED graduate Joshua Perez, a field technician in NMIC's Weatherization program.
