NMIC's Adult Education students participate in Adult Literacy rally
On Thursday, June 2nd, over 80 students, teachers, and administrative staff from NMIC's Adult
Education Department rallied at City Hall to urge Mayor Bloomberg and the City Council
to restore $13.2 million in adult literacy funding that has been cut from the New York City
budget. Over, 1,000 Adult Literacy educators, students, and advocates from throughout the city
participated in the rally. If not restored, the funding cut would limit NMIC's capacity to offer its
high-quality GED, Citizenship, Spanish Literacy, and ESOL classes.
