Thanks to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Criminal Justice Investment Initiative (CJII), NMIC will be able to expand our Domestic Violence Project (DVP) services, including the addition of two more social workers!

“On behalf of survivors of domestic violence, we are incredibly grateful to District Attorney Cy Vance and the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office for this unprecedented lifeline of hope and opportunity. Since 1979, NMIC has provided holistic community-based services to the mostly immigrant neighborhoods of upper Manhattan and the Bronx. This award recognizes the critical need for and value of trauma informed interventions that are embedded in neighborhoods and are survivor-centered” said our Executive Director, Maria Lizardo, LMSW.

This grant will provide NMIC with $1,139,999 in funding over three years, and is part of DA Vance’s #JusticeForAll initiative to reinvest $11.8M obtained from criminal bank settlements into services for historically under-served victims of crime.
