From now until December 31st, NMIC is raising funds to provide access to comprehensive legal representation.
Laws instituted to protect the rights of individuals who immigrated to this country are being attacked at a remarkable pace. These laws include the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Act (DACA) that protects children brought to the U.S. without documentation by deferring the deportation process, Sanctuary Laws that prohibit the use of city funds to report on residents’ immigration status, Asylum and Refugee protections that are being significantly reduced, and multiple legal avenues for immigration—like naturalized citizenship, green cards, and visas—that are becoming slower and more difficult to achieve.
Together, these changes have cultivated an atmosphere of xenophobia and fear reinforced by harsh rhetoric and the expansion of arrests and deportations. NMIC is doubling down on our efforts to provide legal counsel to help clients facing immigration roadblocks.
Our services range from helping clients obtain Special Immigrant Juvenile Status to providing free assistance with citizenship applications. It is imperative that we continue the fight for access to comprehensive legal representation. But we cannot do it alone. We need your help.
Here at NMIC, our Legal Department and Social Services team work hard year-round to meet the needs of community members by representing clients in court and filing critical documents for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), Temporary Protected Status, Adjustment of Status, Naturalization/Citizenship, and much more. Your gift today will help us provide access to comprehensive legal representation to individuals and families who face the fear of an uncertain future.
