Maria Lizardo, LMSW

Directora ejecutiva

Maria joined NMIC as the Director of Social Services in 1998 and was promoted to be the Deputy Director of Client Services in 2004. Before joining NMIC, she worked at PROMESA, Inc., a multi-service agency in the Bronx for eight years, during which time she advanced from being a social worker in the substance abuse program to the Director of Community Development with responsibility for implementation and oversight of numerous tenant, youth, open space, and safety programs. In 2014, Maria served initially as the Interim Executive Director and was then promoted to Executive Director of NMIC. NMIC is a settlement house providing services to 14,000 community members a year throughout its four offices.  She is board member of the Human Services Council (HSC), Latinas & Lideres, the National Dominican Day Parade, the Riverside Park Conservancy, and United Neighborhood Houses (UNH).  

 

She is one of the co-founders of the Brides’ March, who for the last 21 years, have marched to raise awareness about domestic violence.  Maria is a co- author in the Latinx In Social Work book, a #1 bestseller & hot new release under Social Work on Amazon. 

 

She earned her B.S. from Hunter College of the City of New York and her Master of Social Work degree from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College. She is bilingual in English and Spanish. She is a product of the Hamilton and Washington Heights communities. 

Greg Bangser

Deputy Executive Director & COO

Greg joined NMIC in 2005 as a member of the Legal Services Department where he held multiple direct service and managerial roles before shifting to an agency-wide role as Director of Strategic Development & Operations in 2012. In 2018, he became Chief Program Officer, overseeing all agency program work, and in early 2021 he transitioned to his current role. Greg now oversees general agency activities with a particular focus on managing operations and strengthening capacity and coordination across all program and administrative departments. Ha sido miembro de la juntas de Emergency Rent Coalition y New York State Tenants & Neighbors.

Ian Korr

Directora de recursos humanos

Ian joined NMIC as Human Resources Director in 2022. He is a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and a Certified Grant HR Skill Set Trainer. As a Certified Grant HR Skill Set Trainer, he manages a staff of HR professionals y provides all strategic, developmental, and operational human resources functions. He has significantly dedicated his personal and professional time to nonprofit organizations and has assisted his communities in thoughtful ways to contribute a meaningful and lasting impact. He is an integral member of NMIC’s Executive Management Team, and his goals are to engage and raise the value of NMIC’s HR department for the betterment of the organization.    

He obtained his B.A. from University of Florida and his law degree from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law. 

John McGeehan

Interim CFO

John McGeehan is a seasoned operating and administrative executive with over 25 years of experience in financial services, including a notable 20-year tenure at Morgan Stanley, culminating in his position as Managing Director – Global Divisional COO. Additionally, he has accumulated 16 years of non-profit management experience, holding key roles such as COO at Plan International US and CFO at the Environmental Defense Fund.

 

Currently, John holds the position of Managing Partner at True North Advisers, a strategic advisory firm dedicated to providing services to the non-profit community. Notable clients under his guidance include prominent organizations such as Lutheran Immigration & Refugee Services (MD), Bob Woodruff Foundation (NY), Anti-Defamation League (NY), The Housing Collective (CT), Northern Manhattan Improvement Corp (NY), and others.

Rosanna Montilla-Payano

Rosanna Montilla-Payano is a dedicated fundraising and communications executive with over a decade of experience in the non-profit sector. She is deeply committed to social justice and philanthropy and has a proven track record of cultivating strong relationships with corporations and individuals, overseeing successful campaigns, and developing strategic partnerships.

 

Rosanna is also dedicated to normalizing the word “philanthropy” within the Latine community, recognizing that informal giving practices should be affirmed and legitimized. As a Dominican immigrant, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, a Nonprofit Management Certificate from CUNY, and is an alumnus of the Leadership Fellows New York Austin W. Marxe School of Public and International Affairs of Baruch College. She has also completed the Executive Coaching Program from the Robin Hood Foundation/Berkeley and serves on the Grant Advisory Committee at The New York Women’s Foundation under Early Investment Strategy.

 

Despite her impressive skills in fundraising, Rosanna admits that baking remains her Achilles heel, and the only thing more stressful than fundraising is trying to bake cookies with her kids.

Katje Lilah King

Directora de Educación & Carrera

Katje has over 20 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, including roles in fundraising, evaluation, and program management. She most recently served as Senior Program Officer at PENCIL, where she partnered with hundreds of New York City schools and businesses to execute annual Principal For A Day events and deliver college and career readiness programming to over 5,000 students annually.  

 

Katje also led the establishment of PENCIL’s Internship Programs, collaborating with partners including the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development, the Pinkerton Foundation, and Bloomberg Philanthropies to provide paid work-based learning experiences to over 500 youth each summer.

 

She obtained her B.A. in Psychology from Smith College.

Rodrigo Sanchez-Camus, Esq.

Rodrigo joined NMIC as a member of the legal staff in 2005. When he joined NMIC, he litigated housing matters at administrative, trial, and appellate courts. In 2015, Rodrigo became the Acting Legal Co-Director, where he managed a team of ten attorneys, eleven paralegals, and five support staff doing housing, immigration, consumer debt, and public benefits advocacy. He was promoted to Director of Legal Services in 2016. 

 

Before joining NMIC, he worked at the Urban Justice Center’s Mental Health Project, where he co-started a Spanish speaking walk-in mental health legal clinic at the Puerto Rican Family Institute. He has also taught as an adjunct professor at the City University of New York since 2009.

Obtuvo su título de abogado en Columbia Law School en 2002.

Dan Rieber

Director de Climatización

Dan joined NMIC as Energy Auditor in 1992. He was promoted to Director of the Weatherization Assistance Program in 1993. Previously, he performed energy audits and was a construction manager in multi-family buildings for the Weatherization Department of New York City Housing Preservation and Development’s Energy Conservation Division. 


He has been an active board member of the Association for Energy Affordability (AEA) since 1995. In 2015 Mr. Rieber was appointed to the Division of Housing and Community Renewal’s (DHCR) Weatherization Assistance Program Policy Advisory Council (PAC).
