Health Insurance Navigation
NMIC’s Healthcare Navigators walk clients through the enrollment process for the New York State Health Marketplace to assist with applications for first time or renewal coverage. Our Healthcare Navigators enroll over 1,000 clients in health insurance each year.
What We Do:
Certified Navigators will provide anyone who needs health coverage with:
- Help understanding the Affordable Care Act, and coverage options available to them
- Assistance in applying for health insurance
- Gathering, scanning, and uploading client documents to the Health Marketplace
Who We Do it For:
- New York State Residents
- Must be U.S. Citizen, national or lawfully present immigrant (different immigration rules may apply if you are eligible for Child Health Plus or NYS Medicaid based on your income)
- May not be currently incarcerated
How to Sign Up:
Those in need of healthcare may call our Benefits Hotline to schedule an appointment.All applicants should be prepared to give the following information about each member in the household, if applicable, regardless of who is applying for insurance.
- Name
- Date of birth
- Income information
- Social security number
- Current citizenship or immigration status
- Tax filing status
- Information about any existing health insurance coverage
- Name and address of current employer
- Username and password for any existing online NY State of Health application
