NMIC’s benefits screening and enrollment team is able to screen community members for eligibility for over 40 benefits and assist with their applications for each benefit from initial application submission through follow-up advocacy to ensure benefits are received in the correct amount. Our benefits screening/enrollment programs include:
- Single Stop: General screening and access to over 40 public benefits and to additional social services and legal needs.
- SNAP (formerly Food Stamp) Enrollment: Screening and application assistance for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Our SNAP enrollment team utilizes the New York City Human Resource Administration’s Paperless Office System to directly submit electronic SNAP applications on behalf of community members, which reduces waiting times and improves approval rates.
- Health Insurance Marketplace Navigators: Certified Navigators for the New York State of Health health plan marketplace assist community members to identify and apply for the right insurance coverage for themselves while maximizing any subsidies available to assist with insurance costs.
